What is polymorphism: Definition

Definition of Polymorphism:
-Polymorphism is the ability of any compound or element to crystallise as one or more distinct crystal species with different internal lattice.
-Polymorphs show the same properties in the liquid or gaseous state but they behave differently in the solid state.

Example is Polymorphism:
-Polymorphism of carbon
-Graphite and diamond is the example of polymorphism. Graphite and carbon both are the carbon
Diamond is the cubic form of the carbon and the graphite is the hexagonal form of the carbon.
-The polymorphic form has different property.
-It has different flow property, solubility; melting point. It has also different dissolution rate bioavailability.
