Stationary phase and the mobile phase is the two most
important component of the chromatography. The main difference between the
mobile phase and the stationary phase is as per their name; the Mobile phase moves
into the column of the chromatography. While the stationary phase does not move with the column.
Following are the difference between the stationary phase and
the mobile phase
Stationary Phase
|
Mobile Phase
|
Stationary phase does
not move in chromatography technique.
|
Mobile phase move into
the column of the chromatography technique.
|
The stationary phase can be
solid or Liquid
|
The mobile phase can be
liquid or gas or supercritical fluid.
|
Based on the stationary
phase can be classified as column chromatography and planar chromatography
|
Based on the mobile
phase chromatography can be classified as liquid chromatography and Gas
Chromatography.
|
In some chromatography
analyte reversibly react(Bind) with the stationary phase
|
In chromatography analyte
or the stationary phase does not react with the mobile phase.
